AICCS Governance & Quality Assurance Overview
The Association of Independent Christian Colleges and Seminaries (AICCS) serves as the central governing body and quality assurance coordinator for a global network of state-exempt, faith-based tertiary institutions. AICCS establishes mandatory Standards of Excellence across three core pillars: Academic Credibility, Ethical Standards, and Financial Integrity.
AICCS provides oversight through a streamlined digital governance framework that includes annual reporting on; academic curriculum, doctrinal & Ethical standards, financial stewardship, faculty credentials, and institutional sustainability. By centralizing these mechanisms, AICCS ensures that religious freedom is paired with global benchmarks for academic and institutional accountability. Through this balanced approach, AICCS supports schools in fulfilling their mission with integrity, transparency, and excellence.
Institutional Integrity
Doctrinal Standard
AICCS requires member institutions to provide a statement of their faith position and beliefs to represent their religious identity. This is part of the AICCS standard. As such, institutions must comply with this requirement to be granted Candidacy (pre-accredited) or Accredited status and to maintain membership with AICCS.
An institution's Faith Statement defines its Christian nature by affirming its primary doctrinal matters. Institutions are not required to duplicate the AICCS Statement of Faith, but their Faith Statement should identify them as part of the evangelical Protestant tradition in higher education.
The institution’s Board and administration set forth the institution's current position. The document should also inform prospective students, faculty, administrators, Board members, and external constituencies regarding the institution's religious identity.
Ethical Standard: Governance & Student Protection
“We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.” (II Cor. 6:3) “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” (Phil. 1:27)
All who are called by God to the ministry of Christian education solemnly commit to a life of joyful obedience and selfless service to glorify God and enrich His people.
AICCS provides a biblical Code of Ethics for school operations. AICCS schools are schools of integrity, and we are proud of the work you do. This document is a safeguard for our schools. We ask that you and your team agree to and honor these biblical principles.
AICCS enforces strict ethical standards regarding institutional transparency, honest marketing, and student grievance procedures, ensuring that every member college operates with the highest level of integrity and accountability.
AICCS accepts complaints only when they allege that a member institution is failing to comply with the AICCS Standards of Excellence during the annual review or reaccreditation process. Click here to read more. Please read more: Standards & Ethics

Resource Stewardship
Financial Integrity and Governance
AICCS reviews the financial health and sustainability of our member institutions to ensure they have the resources necessary to fulfill their educational mission and support students through graduation.

Operational Excellence
Continuous Improvement
AICCS ensures operational excellence by requiring all member institutions to demonstrate ongoing development, sustainability, and alignment with the Standards of Excellence.
Basic Standard:
- Schools submit a detailed Annual Report to remain in good standing.
- The report documents institutional improvements, program updates, leadership changes, and sustainability measures.
- Annual reporting supports accountability, transparency, and continuous institutional growth.
AICCS uses this high‑level review to confirm that each institution is progressing academically, ethically, and financially while maintaining its Christian mission and educational integrity.
AICCS Quality Assurance Framework
AICCS ensures that all accreditation processes are fair, transparent, and aligned with the Three Pillars: Academic Credibility, Ethical Standards, and Financial Integrity.
1. Clear Procedures
AICCS uses step-by-step procedures for all accreditation activities. Schools receive clear instructions, timelines, and explanations of how decisions are made.
2. Clear Standards
AICCS evaluates schools using publicly available, actionable standards based on the 3 Pillars and 7 Standards. Schools know exactly what evidence is required to demonstrate compliance.
3. Respect for Institutional Diversity
AICCS works with nontraditional schools, national and international. Procedures and standards are reviewed regularly to stay relevant and supportive of diverse ministry models.
4. Fair, Consistent Evaluation
AICCS uses trained peer reviewers, standardized criteria, and transparent decision‑making to ensure evaluations are fair, impartial, and evidence‑based.
5. Continuous Improvement
AICCS evaluates its processes through internal and external reviews and stakeholder feedback to strengthen Christian education globally.
6. Annual School Reporting
Schools submit an annual report demonstrating:
- growth and achievements
- changes in programs or leadership
- student outcomes
- progress on the 7 Standards
- alignment with the 3 Pillars
This helps AICCS support each school’s ongoing development.
